SIT #311-2026 Mar 03 – Training Broke

It’s another office day.  Woke up with only 4.5 hours of 72% sleep and feel great.  Who would have thunk.  Today the DC was about riding the wave, going with the flow.  Using this practice as a away to observe what’s going on from a safe distance which gives you the flexibility to go with it, accept it as is, reducing the reactionary impact that some of those things can have.  I have always been a go with the flow type of person and in no way does that mean you are less strong in your convictions – it just means you can take situations as they come without being reactionary and your chose to jump on the wave and ride it is truly your own thought out choice.  Today the DT was all about central training.  This was a flow state practice that allows you to strengthen your awareness of the current moment and where you sit in it all and the current moment.  This is another sit that helps you with your equanimity skills.  The DJ today was about a story that was told in the DC during sit #168-25 Aug 9It is all about not putting a reactionary value on the moment.  A farmer’s horse runs away and the neighbour says “that is awful and unlucky” and the farmer replays “Maybe, maybe not, who knows”.  The horse then returns with another wild stallion.  The neighbour says “How lucky and amazing is that?” and the farmer replies “Maybe, maybe not, who knows”.  The farmers son tries to tame the wild stallion and was bucked off, breaking his leg.  The neighbour said to the farmer “That’s horrible, how unlucky” and the farmer replied “Maybe, maybe not, who knows”.  The next day the army gave barrelling in to town to sign up all the young men for service in the war, the farmers son was passed up because of his broken leg.  The neighbour said to the farmer “What incredible luck and amazing news!” to which the farmer replied “Maybe, maybe not, who knows”.  This story is told to illustrate the idea that circumstances aren’t changed by our reaction to them, they are unfolded over time.  It is how we react to them that can be controlled but doesn’t control the outcomes.  I see the point here, but I also believe that things should be celebrated.  I think the wins can be enjoyed and still have full sight of the circumstances not being fully realized.
