SIT #325-2026 Mar 17 – Happy St Paddy’s Day

Happy St Pats day.  Today the DC was about fractals.  This is a sit that was done almost a year ago on #89-2025 Mar 21.  It’s the idea that things repeat themselves at scale.  For instance while in meditation you forget to focus on the breath and then you come back to the breath and then you get pulled away from the breath and then you come back to the breath.  Then if you scale out from there and look at a practice as a whole.  You sit for a while and then you get pulled away and can’t find the time to sit, then you come back to the mat for a while and then you get pulled away again.  You then come back to the matt for a while and repeat.  Also, like the coast line.  Looking at it from 3000 ft in the air it looks jagged and undulating.  Zoom in to 100 feet in the air and you can see smaller bays and inlets jagged and undulating.  Zoom in to the rocky beach and you can see the waterline jagged and undulating.  This ability to scale fractals gives you perspective on why be hard on yourself on the small fractal scale when really, this happens on the grand scale too.  The DT today was all about changes you make within turn in to changes externally.  This sit get’s you in the center of flow and allows you to tinker with your insides with impacts to your exterior self.  The DJ today was about the acceptance of asking or getting outside help.  You break your arm, you go to a doctor.  This seems like a no brainer.  So why when you struggle with mental health would you not go see an expert on that too.  There are people with better skill sets than yourself to deal with things that we are going through.  This practice helps that process move along.
